Frederick Hudson was the first recognised spirit photographer in England. He was introduced to Georgiana Houghton, a wealth upper class Spiritualist supporter, by the husband of Mrs Samuel Guppy, a well known London medium. This was in 1870, shortly after their meeting Mrs Guppy announced to the publication “Spiritual Magazine” that they had produced the first ever spirit photograph in London.
